Download Now!An Assessment of the Top Five Architecture Modeling Tools Popular Contact SystemicLogic to gain access Version: 001
Submitted Date:  2009/1/27
Description:
Enterprise architects need to consolidate information on a variety of subjects, including business processes, organisation structures, applications, both structured and unstructured data, technology of various kinds and interfaces. Competitive architects are seeking better ways to understand and model the relationships between this information and disseminate it to their stakeholders. EA tools come in
handy by storing information in a repository and providing capabilities to structure, analyze and present the information in different ways. An EA tool should ideally consist of a metamodel that supports the business, information and technology perspectives including the solution architecture. It also enables better understanding of the complex system of IT resources and its support of business. EA executives, business strategists, planners and analysts can immensely benefit from using the right EA technology.

This work is a detailed investigation of five major architecture tools in the enterprise landscape namely ALTOVA, ARIS, SparxSystems EA, Metastorm and IBM Telelogic Systems Architect. The research assessed the tools and provided both an overview of key functionalities and a positioning of their best fit areas in the architecture modeling space.
